Graduating from university in Glasgow I quickly realised that my career opportunities would be somewhat limited in my home town and like many before me London was calling. I moved to the “big smoke” and sought out my career opportunities within the top tier advertising agencies. I have been fortunate enough to have worked for some of the best agencies on some very high profile campaigns as varied as luxury cosmetics to the London Olympics to mainstream automotive. Before making the move client side I enjoyed a brief time freelancing but the chance to work within the Global marketing team for a luxury automotive brand in Hong Kong was too great an opportunity not to take.
Now, over 8 years later, I have in-depth personal experience and knowledge across many facets of the Global Marketing & Advertising World and know first hand what it takes to succeed in this industry - and indeed what the industry requires from a potential candidate.
After a quick 18 months’ stint in Singapore to enjoy some family time the draw of Hong Kong has proved too strong and here I am back in "Home Kong". Hong Kong is a perfect balance of East meets West. I relish the diversity, grit and cultural punch that this city offers in abundance. One wouldn’t expect that the bustling and vibrant urban jungle could possibly co-exist with the lush green and active outdoor life; but it does so harmoniously. Beach, jungle, hiking and mega city all within 30 minutes, you really can have it all here. There is nowhere else quite like it.
My time in the industry has taught me that a good piece of adverting or communication should be but a few things - efficient, respectful and influential whilst providing a positive customer experience from beginning to end. I believe the same qualities to be true of a good recruiter. It is vital for me to have meaningful connections through a truly personalised approach. This is more than just filling roles. I am being entrusted with people's livelihoods, careers and businesses.
Outside of work I am an eco-conscious, mindful living, multi-tasking mum. I like to think of myself as Ms Green Glamour, an advocate for all things green, clean and non-toxic but without the stereotypical "hippy" persona. I also have a compulsion for travelling but lucky for me all of Asia is my remedy. Being based in Hong Kong and Singapore has afforded me the luxury of inexpensive quick getaways to many less explored cities and sites to ease my affliction.
