People say that you fall into recruitment and for me that was exactly the case. I had graduated from Coventry University with a top degree in Transport & Product Design and like the other 85 of us, had NO job to go to.
During my University semesters, I sold cars for a local garage. The human interaction over a key purchase is something that only someone who is passionate about sales can realise. Guiding someone around a purchase, advising them, educating them and if all is right completing the purchase was a great feeling. I was and always will be an ambitious person and sadly the second hand car market wasn’t going to provide me with the monetary results to help realise some of my personal goals.
When I got the call about recruitment and from the research that I had done I knew that if I was good, very good, I could earn a lot of money. So I packed up my bags, drove down from Coventry and never looked back.
My background in recruitment is ‘Design & Creative’. I love that sector and given my educational background it’s an area that is close to my heart. However, it’s also the area with the smallest recruitment footprint in terms of agency and client scale. In order for me to enhance my portfolio of clients, I needed to look bigger. The world of Media and Communication offers this and its now something I am excited to play a key part in.
I have previously worked for three recruitment agencies; the latter two being within the creative and most relevant sector. I hankered after a more structured and ultimately successful business to be a part of. What MCG& Group has done over the past few years is testament to the fact that they have achieved this. 2016 was a really exciting time for MCG& Group and I was thrilled to be a part of it heading up MCG Associates Hong Kong.
Why HK? Hong Kong is a clash of cultures. East meets West. Dim Sum meets McDonalds. And for that reason, it provides one of the most eclectic places to visit and work. If you live there already; lucky you. If you haven’t visited or worked there it should be on your bucket list. In pole position.
